Birthday gift for Happy birthday Draco man! Hope you like 8')
Good thing you reminded me early it's your birthday, so I managed the very rare feat of finishing this in time ohoho >D Since I've been doing a lot of colouring experimentations lately....Hope you don't mind your daughter became the subject to my test //sobs. You know how much I love her >v< Thanks for always being a great friend and listener, stay awesome always <3
Was gonna just submit this on tumblr, but well points for La'Hansi haha >D Also, is it sad that this is my first submit to everyday lofe folder //FAILTARD
I really like how solid yet soft the details are *u* I could see the direction of hair and its form but without it being too clumped up. I always loved that effect when hair gets highlighted around by light, such a lovely effect!
Thank you Sigh ;v; <33 Lol the hair shine was actually a bit of an accident. I have no idea what I was aiming to do before but it definitely was to stay away from too much shininess. Then that effect somehow came into play and I decided it needed to be there >D Funny thing how playing around with random stuff works huh 8V
Gorgeous, simple gorgeous! It really makes you pause for a moment to just admire it. So well done, and the attention to detail is amazing. It is the obvious thought and effort that went into the work that really brings it to the next level. The piece speaks for itself, with no explanation needed. It stirs the emotions. I wish I had just a portion of your talent It truly is a work of beauty.
Aaaah thank you so much for the comment, that was such a pleasure to read, I really appreciate it! <33
And lol you flatter me too much Q//v//Q It's more a lot of practice and experimentation than anything else really, since I'm honestly not really naturally talented in drawing haha. I checked out your gallery, your stuff's a little rough but not bad? You've got a really good sense of where light and shadow falls over the figure >v<
Yea fortunately DA is a treasure trove of handy tutorials, and yup, improvement is all about improvement ^^ What program do you use? You could always try looking on youtube for process recordings or tutorials too. I've found those super handy, since you actually get to watch the artist at work.
Obligatory hairgasm comment skdfhskjdfhkdjf Wow, really. That hair looks damn pretty * 0 * And I must say, your style is heading towards a very nice direction <3 Really love the coloring on this one and them colors /////////// <33
Hair: //spams Kairi with love kdgjks thank you Kairi <33 Lol actually I have no idea where my style is going atm, I'm fluctuating a lot these days ;A; Though this probably the only successful experiment I've done so far |D Good to hear at least it's working >v< )b
...Wow I think you made me spring a leak for a minute there! I must compose myself!
Spazz aside, holy crap Lainey this is so beautiful, I can't even... I was surprised when I saw the thumbnail at first, because it looked so... different than what you normally do. And I mean that in a good way! It seems like more of a shift toward semi-realism, which is especially noticeable in the lips and eyes. It definitely makes the anatomy and features seem more well-defined.
That lighting is a lot more intense than per usual, too. But it's not so intense that it's overpowering; the back-lit effect actually gives it a nice feel, and seems to illuminate the entire image as a whole. I'm probably not even explaining this right. But oh well. It especially stands out on the hair, which I can only stare in awe at due to how much detail you put into it (you and your hairgasms-)
So of course I don't mind Gwen being the test subject, especially considering how beautiful you drew her! Thank you so much for this, I'll spam you with love the next time you get on MSN- So you stay awesome as well!
Remember the big conversation we had about me wanting to change my style? (okay maybe not so big, more like me asking your opinion about my fail attempts at colouring differently. BUT YOU GET THE DRIFT). Yea, this eventually spawned from then. As I said, I just really needed to move away from all the shiny sparkles and do something with more depth. Funnily enough, I actually found a different method working that I quite liked shortly after that, so it seemed fitting to coerce your daughter into my experiments haha. Pretty big relief that it came out alright actually XD
Thanks for the mini crit, always a pleasure reading them *v* And good to hear it's finally moved beyond looking like how I usually work, at least I'm finally moving somewhere eh 8')
Anyway super glad you like it <33 Always appreciate our little chats and crits and your insights, so here's a little thank you for everything!
Well it's not something people get to watch often- maybe that's why it's so valuable! *shot*
I do in fact remember that conversation, but compared to your experiments then, and this one now, there's definitely a world of improvement! It's definitely a departure from your comfort zone, which I think is what makes it even more impressive. Plus, since you found something you liked... it works out quite well!
I'd say you've always been moving. Your stuff usually improves a little bit each time, but it's mostly been little tweaks. Again, I have to emphasize that since you took such a leap out of your comfort zone, it really made it stand out more. But you've said it yourself; it's often when you try something new that you get unexpectedly good results.
So thank you again! The appreciation is mutual, my friend
